YOU CAN MAKE IMPROVEMENTS
CONTACT US
| You want improvements in the
trustworthiness of textbooks. You think that errors, contradictions,
and omissions betray the purpose of textbooks. So long as textbook
publishers, school administrators, and state legislators don't care,
trustworthiness won't happen.
You can help make it happen. You can do one or more of the following: 1. If you are parent, read you child's textbooks. Then take action. 2. If you are a teacher or principal, don't stand for defective textbooks. Take action. 3. If you are on the board of trustees of any school or school district, don't allow inferior education on your students. Take action. 4. If you are a state legislator, superintendent of public instruction, or governor, take the legislative lead to ensure trustworthiness in textbooks. The taxpayers demand it. Take action. 5. If you are a college student, faculty member, or administrator, don't accept second best in education. Demand the best from publishers. Take action. 6. If you participate in any group for the improvement of education, you could not find a more productive campaign. Take action. 7. If you are the alumnus of any school, you have weight with the board of trustees. Your influence did not stop when you graduated. Take action. 8. If you have any connection to any of the schools involved in the Earth Science textbook case, you can't let the school administration duck the issue. Contact them immediately. 9. If you embark on any campaign for accuracy in textbooks, please inform us and send us copies of all materials. We will post them on the website and provide a link to your website. We millions are all in this together. 10. Does anyone remember the c.1950s motion picture in which the lead actress character was a fact checker for a major magazine? If so, please contact us. We would like to highlight the important profession of fact checking. 11. It would be helpful to have the agreements for a textbook academic reviewer from several publishers. We'll put them on the website so that everybody can see just what a professor is expected to do for payment and have his/her name and school listed in the textbook. This will help rank publishers. Mail the copy to us at the address below. Contact Us Textbook Trust is dedicated to the belief that academic integrity can be improved.
